GE Vernova’s Operation & Maintenance team in Israel has been performing services since 2015 for the largest independent power producer in the country. The team is composed by 40 individuals that deliver a robust, proactive Reliability Based Maintenance (RBM) approach aiming for the highest plant performance fulfilling grid demand, while minimizing unit downtime and delivering a high-quality service to our client.
The Haruvit plant (located between Ashdod and Jerusalem) produces 850MW thanks to two GT26 combined cycle turbines in single shaft arrangement, which represent approximately 7% of the country’s installed power capacity and since October 2023, the plant has performed at the highest levels so far in its 9 years of commercial operation, with almost 100% Equivalent Reliability Factor (ERF). Additionally, the plant’s service factor reached an impressive 96.8%, despite planned maintenance outages for both gas turbines (GT models)—lasting 4 and 5 days, respectively, for their scheduled A and B inspections. Also, per customer’s request, these maintenance shutdowns were executed in parallel, requiring extra efforts from our O&M team
By the end of June 2024, the team also reached a significant milestone by earning, for the first time, Power Plant Availability and Reliability bonus on both units. Further bonus was achieved on plant performance measured through Power Output & Heat Rate. The O&M site team also made significant accomplishment in developing the necessary quality processes for ISO 55001-Asset Management certification, which was successfully achieved following an external audit during that same month.
All of this has been achieved despite the challenging environment in the country, which has affected various aspects of the contract execution, such as the direct impact on O&M team members, critical manpower availability and limitations in sourcing of parts and services. This a great example of our commitment to deliver for our customer with Safety and Quality as top priority.
