Meet Christine Success, a female Service Manager in North America.

  • Christine, tell us a bit about your background.

I graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology (also known as Georgia Tech) in Atlanta, where I studied electrical engineering. I started with the company through the Field Engineer Program, working on gas turbines and steam turbines throughout the Southeast US. After 6-7 years in the field as a Field Engineer, I became a Customer Service Engineer, then after some years, transitioned to my current role as a Service Manager.

  • Can you describe your current role as a service Manager?

As a Service Manager, I have a portfolio of six power plant sites. I work with our GE partners to plan, execute, and close out maintenance on those units. If there is anything needed onsite – for example, when maintenance is coming up, I figure out the job scope and start working with our Resource Managers to get labor and materials scheduled and to the site in time. My job is to support the site team as needed and ensure a safe and high-quality outage.

  • What do you like about working in the field?

Starting as a Field Engineer, you are given a lot of responsibility and ownership. It helps you build lots of great leadership skills right off the bat. In field roles, you quickly learn how to work well with lots of different teams and personalities, from one outage to the next. And in the field, you never know what you’re going to run into – so I love the opportunities to think outside the box and come up with solutions as challenges come up. Finally, I like the project management aspect of being a Service Manager. It’s great to oversee a project from start to finish. That gives me a huge sense of accomplishment.

  • More broadly, what have you liked about working in FieldCore?

Number 1, it’s always been the teams that I’ve worked with. The people that we work with make all the difference. Sometimes working on a site can feel like a bit of a silo, but if you talk to the Service Manager or Outage Manager next to you, they’re experiencing the same thing or similar. That helps you feel like you’re not dealing with something alone. In my experience, everyone is always willing to help you or share their experiences when you encounter a challenge.

  • Being a Service Manager is pretty much a non-stop job. When you’re not working, what do you like to do?

I like to cook! My YouTube is full of cooking videos. My favorite thing to cook is curry chicken, or salmon and shrimp. I also have a big family and I spend a lot of time with them. I enjoy movie nights at my parents’ house!

  • Who encourages you or inspires you?

My mom inspires me so much – especially knowing that she left her home country so we could have a better life. Both my parents were teachers growing up but didn’t get certified when they moved to Georgia, but now two of my sisters are lawyers, and another is an elementary school librarian! My mom now takes care of my grandma full time – she has always shown me that kindness and hard work make a difference. She is the sweetest, funniest person and inspires me to work harder every day.
